How to Practice Putting
Thanks No Three Putts

Effective Putting Practice Routine
⏱️ Total Time: 30–40 minutes

✅ Step 1: Calibration & Warm-Up  (5–10 minutes)

Use a putting mirror to calibrate your setup and alignment.
Begin with a light warm-up: stretch, get your feel for the green.

🔁 Step 2: Short Straight Putts  (5 minutes)
Find a straight putt inside 8 feet.
Use an aim aid (e.g., a line or gate) for the first 10 putts. Remove it after.
Hit multiple putt; reset your setup each time.
Focus on a consistent pre-shot routine and comfort in your stance.

📏 Step 3: Speed Control – Ladder Drill  (10 minutes)
Use 3 balls for this drill.
From a starting point, putt uphill to 10ft, 20ft, 30ft, and 40ft.
Then do the same downhill back toward a hole.
Total: 24 putts.
The goal is to feel distance control, not to hole the putts.

🎲 Step 4: Random Distance Challenge   (5 minutes)
Use 1 ball only
Hit putts from 20+ feet to different holes, changing slopes and angles.
Every putt should be unique — simulate real-game unpredictability.

🧠 Step 5: Pressure Routine – Final Reps  (10 minutes)

Use 1 ball, treat each putt as game-like.
Begin at 10 feet. After each putt, change angle and move one foot closer.
Work your way down to 3 feet.
Focus on holing every putt from 6 feet and in.
If you miss inside 6 feet, retry.
Perform your full routine on each putt — this is your mental prep before heading to the course.

Alternate Quick Session (if you’re short on time – 10 minutes total)

Use 1 ball only:
1. Hit 5 different putts from beyond 30 feet to various holes.
2. Choose one hole: hit a 20ft, 15ft, and 10ft putt, changing angle each time.
3. New hole: hit 8ft, 6ft, and 4ft putts from different angles.
4. Finish with:
   Two 5ft breaking putts (left-to-right & right-to-left)
Two 3ft putts (one downhill, one uphill)
