Help children to realize that human
beings can tell stories with their bodies without saying or writing a
word.
Begin by using your own body taking
different stances, making various gestures and using distinctive facial
expressions.
Each
time you change your position ask, "Can you read me?"
Then divide the class into small
groups and have them plan pantomimes of popular TV commercials, especially those
that involve children.
Suggest "body language" dramas in
which the class tries to guess what the participants are saying.
Excellent sources for pantomime are
fairy tales and athletic events.
