Swinging

This activity can be done in a large classroom. Divide the children in groups of three. Have them stand around the outside of the desks. Two pupils stand  beside one another joining inside hands. The third person stands behind them, holding the wrists of the joined hands. This is now the swing and rider. While reciting the following verse : "Swinging in a swing, Swinging up so high I think that I can nearly reach Right into the sky." Children forming the swings swing their hands back and forth while the rider holds on and rocks from one foot to the other. At the end of the verse, the rider ducks underneath and moves to the next swing.
