The Drowning Wizard

One very cold day an old wizard was freezing cold and wanted to have a hot bath. He turned the hot tap on and accidently snapped he tap off. The hot water kept pouring out. He headed for the door, but as he did, his cat chased a mouse and CLICK, the door was locked. He tried to open it, but the door handle snapped off. The hot water kept flooding out. There were no windows or other doors. His house was made of stone and was a huge tower. Soon the place would be flooded with water. Question : How did the wizard stop himself from drowning without using magic. Also how did he escape from the room. See answer
