Elephant's Weight

A long, long time ago, an Asian king lived in a port city. He received a visit from his friend, a king of an adjacent country. The visitor brought him an elephant. The visitor asked : "Can you measure the elephant's approximate weight in one day?" The king of the port city consulted with the wise men of the village.   "We just have beam scales weighing bags." One servant  said : "I can make the proper measuring equipment by assembling large levers and pulleys."  "I can't make it in one day?" At last they found a method for measuring the elephant's approximate weight without complicated devices. Question : What was that method? See answer
